While period cramps are enough to make us suffer every month, there are other period-related issues that can drive you bonkers such as not being able to find a pad or worst of all, leaving behind period stains on your panties, clothes or bedding. This can certainly be quite embarrassing as well as difficult to deal with.

However, if you have spent years suffering silently through this bloody nightmare and ended up throwing away your clothing items, you do not need to fret any longer. Here are some of the best hacks that you can use to get rid of those stubborn stains once and for all!

1. WASH FABRIC UNDER RUNNING WATER

This is especially great for lightweight clothing items. You can hold the stained area under running water (preferably cold). Doing this immediately after you stain the clothing can be more beneficial as the blood would not be dried up. In this process, you can add your detergent or a soap lying nearby and rub off the stain.

2. USE BLOOD REMOVAL PRODUCTS

Period stains can become a regular problem so it is wiser to add a blood removal product in your laundry products. There are many enzymatic cleaners and oxygenated bleaches that do wonders removing those stubborn stains off. One of these is Carbona Stain Devils which is perfect for cleaning away those stains and absolutely easy to carry.

3.USE A SALINE SOLUTION FOR MENSTRUAL FLUID STAINS

Period stains can be quite unexpected and embarrassing and it can be very confusing to remove these immediately if you are surrounded by people. One immediate hack that you can use is salt water. Salt is an easier-to-find ingredient that you can add to cold water to make your own saline solution. Once you do that, you can clean away that dirty stain!

4. USE HYDROGEN PERIOXIDE

If the stains are too stubborn, you might need a stronger solution to tackle it. Among the many household items, hydrogen peroxide is an agent that can fight off these stains. This is great for clothing that is lighter in color as if it is used on darker clothing, they might lose their color.

5. APPLY LEMON JUICE ON PERIOD STAINS

This is another great hack that works just like Hydrogen Peroxide. It can be a great alternate and an immediate help to scrub away the stain. Its bleaching properties are immensely beneficial and you do not have to spend a lot of money for it. For quicker effects, you can also add salt to the lemon juice and apply it on the stained area.

6. USE BAKING SODA AND ASPIRIN

Baking soda is one of the items that you will easily find lying around in your kitchen. This product may be used for food but it can be to treat these blood stains. Another surprising ingredient that you can add to this is aspirin. Crush the tablet and make a paste with the baking soda with water and apply it to the area. You can let the paste sit for 20 to 30 minute and then you can wash it away.

7. WASH BLOOD OFF WITH AMMONIA

Dabbing the stained area with Ammonia can be highly beneficial to remove the stains. It can also be great for perspiration and urine.

8. USE COCA COLA

Now this one may come as a surprise to you but believe me, it is magic potion! You may have heard that it can be used to wash off the most stubborn stains. Well, that is not wrong at all. Instead of waiting to clean the stain away later, you can grab a cola bottle and soak the clothing. The stain will be magically removed overnight.

9. ANOTHER SECRET TRICK IS A MEAT TENDERIZER!

This may seem strange but an unseasoned meat tenderizer can help in removing old stains which have been set in the clothing. Just sprinkle it on to the area and add water to make a paste. Allow it to sit for about 30 minutes and then rinse it with cold water.

10. USE WD-40

You can use this while the menstrual stain is still fresh. This will help lift up the stain so it can be washed off easily. Just spray it on the area and let it set, then rinse it with water. You can add soap as well. This hack is great for lipstick stains, ink stains and even dirt and grease.

11. APPLY CORNSTARCH PASTE

Cornstarch is one more ingredient that you can easily find in your kitchen. Add cornstarch into water and make a paste to apply to the stain and gently rub it. Next you can keep it in sunlight and wait till it is dried. Once dry, you can brush off the cornstarch from the clothing. You can repeat the process, if needed.

12. APPLY TALCUM POWDER FOR PERIOD STAINS

This can be used as a substitute for cornstarch. Add talcum power to water in order to make a paste. Apply it to the stain and let it air dry. Once it is dried up, you can brush away the residue. If the stain is not entirely removed, you can repeat the process.

13. TREAT STAINS DIRECTLY ON BEDDING

If your mattress is stained with an unexpected leak then you should not toss the entire thing into laundry. Use one of the hacks and apply it directly on the spot instead of cleaning the entire thing. The best option is to use a cotton ball and apply the mixture on the stained area. Repeat the process and then let it air dry or under the sunlight.

The Takeaway on How to Get Rid of Period Stains

Thus, these are 13 best hacks that can help you get rid of those period stains that have been haunting you for years. Removing them may be a hassle but it is not impossible.
