What is a Yuuki Cup?

A Yuuki cup is an eco-friendly alternative to tampons, pads or liners. The cup consists of flexible material that you insert inside your vagina during your period to catch the blood.

The menstrual cups got its name because of how they collect blood. Rather than your blood absorbing in feminine hygiene products like tampons or pads, the blood pools inside the cup. Once it’s full, you remove it, empty it, and use it again.

Yuuki Cup Benefits

There are countless benefits to using a Yuuki it’s perfect for overnight use or when you don’t have easy access to a bathroom.

There are no strings attached, literally. If you have an active life and do a lot of running, swimming or yoga, these cups let you do it all with comfort.

Gone are the days of packing your bags with tampons or pads. The Yuuki cup lets you travel light and you never have to worry about running out or buying more. Yuuki cups also absorb more and can hold up to an ounce of liquid, and rarely ever leak.

How to Insert Your Yuuki Cup

Before you try your period cup, do not cut off the extended end or the stem. This makes it easier to grab your cup when you take it out. After you try out the cup and more comfortable with it, you can (but you don’t have to) gradually cut your stem to a length you like or even cut it off completely.

Disinfection

Before your menstrual cycle, it’s crucial to boil your Yukki cup in water for 5 minutes. This disinfects your cup and destroys any bacteria that could have gotten into the cup during storage.

Make sure that you have enough water in your pot of boiling water for your cup. You want the cup to be completely submerged in water so it doesn’t distort at all.

Insertion

Before you insert the cup, make sure you wash your hands and fold the cup. Next, get into a comfortable position, which is usually a squat.

Now, insert the folded cup into your vagina so the bottom of the cup is exactly 1cm from the entrance of your vagina. Once you insert your cup, it will unfold and cling to the vaginal wall. You can unfold your cup by turning it or running your finger around it.

It is easier to insert your cup when it is wet, or you can also use a water-based lubrication gel.

Removing the Cup

Remember that every woman’s flow is different, so it’s not possible to say exactly when to take the cup out. Typically, you should empty the cup every 4 to 8 hours.

Similar to inserting it, the cup is usually easier to remove when you are squatting. To remove it, grab the reinforced bottom of the cup or stem and extract it. Clenching your vaginal muscles can help you remove the cup.

Next, rinse your cup in water and insert it again. If you want to wash your cup with soap, only use neutral detergents.

It really is that easy to use the Yukki Menstrual Cup!
