10 Facts to Know

10 Things you Need to Know

Okay, so you’re considering making a switch to the Saalt Menstrual Cup? Here are 10 things that you need to know.

#1: You’ll Save Money, Literally Hundreds of It

A top-quality menstrual cup costs around $20-30 USD. This can seem quite expensive.

But, consider how much tampons costs. Most people spend $5 per month, or about $60 a year. Your menstrual cup will pay for itself in just a few months!

And then there’s more good news. The company says that it can last for up to 10 years. The actual amount of time before you replace it depends on how well you take care of it (see our Menstrual Cup Care Guide for more details).

#2: 3-4x the capacity of a Tampon

Are you tired of tampons? It makes sense. They’re expensive, contain toxic chemicals and it might feel like you’re always running to the store to buy more.

The Saalt Menstrual Cup has a capacity of 25 ml (small) or 30 ml (large). Compare this to a jumbo tampon that holds around 10 ml. That’s 2.5-3x less period hassle.

Seriously. Go on that hike. Take a long plane ride. Sleep through the night. Don’t worry about your period.

#3: You can Use it for Up to 12 Hours

You have to change tampons every 8 hours in order to reduce your risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (see: TSS warning signs here). So you put a fresh tampon in right before you go to bed, and then you have to get up when you wake up to change it out. It can be stressful!

The good news with it is that you can change it every 12 hours, instead of 8. You can sleep through the night in peace!

More good news about this too. It has a capacity 3-4x more than most tampons, so even if you have a very heavy period, you won’t have to get up in the night to deal with it. Did you ever think this would be possible. We’re here to tell you that it is!

#4: Made in the USA from Medical Grade Silicone

It’s made in the USA from medical grade silicone. Here at Reusable Menstrual Cups, we LOVE menstrual cups that are made in the USA. They have a reputation for being some of the best menstrual cups you can buy.

In this case, it’s made from medical grade silicone, according to strict standards. It really is a product that you can feel good about putting into your body.

#5: There are Two Sizes

There are two different sizes of Saalt Cup to consider:

Small, which is for people with a light to normal flow. It has a capacity of 25 ml.

Large, which is for normal to heavy flow. It has a capacity of 30 ml.

How to use the Saalt Menstrual Cup

#6: Hypoallergenic and Toxic Chemical Free

If you have very sensitive skin or allergies, you may find tampons irritating. This is particularly true of the non-organic ones, which often contain trace amounts of toxic chemicals.

Try making the switch to the Saalt Cup, which is hypoallergenic, and free from any toxins to see if it makes a difference. Our guess is that it will!

#7: Customer Service Details

If you have a question that you’re having a hard time finding an answer to, there is a real person at Saalt you can talk to. Email them here: [email protected]

#8: It’s Way Better for the Environment

Estimates vary, but it’s thought that the average person uses 11,000-16,000 tampons during the course of a lifetime.

If it lasts for 10 years, you’ll need around 4 of them.

Big difference, right? 4 vs. 11,000.

Now, factor in the packaging and the energy used to manufacture those products as well as transport them. It’s obvious what the winner is if you’re looking to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

#9: It’s Comfortable

The Saalt Menstrual Cup is one of the softer menstrual cups. This means that it’ll feel very comfortable when it’s inside of you. The stem is soft and flexible too, which means it won’t irritate your delicate parts like some of the other menstrual cups.

#10: Help People in Need

The company believes that everyone should have access to top-quality period care products. They’ve partnered with a few different organizations to work on providing this to people around the world.
