Cherish Pads Review

They came onto the market in 2016, and they’re an all-natural, plastic free sanitary pad. Here are a few quick facts:

  • A wide range of absorbency levels and sizes for Cherish Napkins that can offer daily protection (panty liners to long, overnight pads)
  • 8 layers of protection with Cherish Premium Sanitary Napkins ideal for day use or night use
  • Nspire Pads are quite expensive, even compared to other organic options
  • Prices vary widely online (check carefully)
  • Some uncertainty about the company, and whether it’s legitimate, or not (it appears to be a multi-level marketing scheme)
  • The company makes some outrageous claims about what they can do (reduce menstrual cramps for example).
  • All-natural, but no organic certifications
  • Cherish Sanitary Napkins contain a negative ion strip. According to some reports, it may contain low levels of radioactive material.

Review of Cherish Pads

Introduction to Cherish Sanitary Napkins

Cherish…they make a lot of claims about them in their product description that just don’t seem true. Some examples:

  • Reduce migraines
  • Reduce heavy flow
  • Can reduce cramps
  • 10x more absorbent than conventional options
  • All natural

All Natural?

Are they organic? The quick answer is “no.”

Nspire Cherish Premium Sanitary Pads are an all-natural product. However, they don’t contain any organic certifications. If you’re going to pay more money for a product of this kind when compared to regular disposable pads, why not get one that’s organic and has this official designation?

All-natural can actually mean just about anything. Literally, just about anything. “All-natural” products have no government regulations behind them in any way whatsoever.

If you do want to go organic, there are a ton of great choices out there from excellent companies. Here are a few of our top picks: Best Organic Disposable Pads.

Is there Science to Back This Stuff Up?

We’d certainly love to see some scientific studies to back these claims up, specifically the one about reducing your menstrual flow. How can this kind of product reduce your menstrual flow? It just doesn’t make sense.

Heavy Periods

There are certain things that can reduce your menstrual flow if you have a very heavy period. For example, taking NSAID’s, getting on birth control, or other interventions from a medical doctor. A sanitary pad though? Certainly not, although you might consider using them for day use when you have a heavier period. Or, their night pads for overnight use.

Menstrual Cramps

Same with menstrual cramps. How can Now we No have anything to do with reducing them? There are some solutions to extreme cramps, and other kinds of menstrual pain, but they are medical interventions and not some product you can buy in a drugstore.

Truth in Advertising?

Truth in advertising? We’re ALL about that. Any menstrual cup, tampon or sanitary pad that claims to do something such as reduce your menstrual flow just isn’t telling the truth. And it’s for this reason that we recommend staying far away from these things.

Are Cherish Sanitary Pads FDA Approved?

A great question is whether or not Cherish All Natural Pads are FDA approved. The answer is no, but no sanitary pads are either!

Pads, tampons and menstrual cups are considered to be “medical devices” by the FDA and don’t require approval. It’s also for this reason that manufacturers aren’t required to disclose what’s in these products.

cherish-premium-sanitary-pads

4 Sizes of NSPire Cherish Pads

Similar to most other disposable pads, there are various absorbency options. They include the following, from lightest (panty liners) to heaviest absorbency (nighttime):

  • Pantyliner (155 mm)
  • Day Use (245 mm)
  • Night Use  (290 mm)
  • Overnight Use (320 mm)

The company recommends choosing the pad based on your monthly flow vs height, size or weight.

Where are Nspire Pads Made?  We scoured the Internet, but were unable to find this information about where Cherish Pads are made.

Cherish Pad Ingredients

We also scoured the Internet to try to find some information about what Cherish Premium Sanitary Pads are made from. However, we were also unable to find this information.

That said, it’s not so unusual for companies (even the biggest makers of these products) to not disclose this information. Because pads and tampons are classified as “medical devices” by the FDA, they aren’t required by law to let consumers know.

However, we personally don’t put toxic chemicals next to our skin, so we prefer to stick with organic ones.

Is the Company behind them Actually a Pyramid Scheme or a Scam?

We’d also love to know about the company that makes Cherish Sanitary Napkins. Honestly, reading through their product description on Amazon, and their website, there isn’t a whole lot of real information to be found. We have a feeling that this is done purposefully!

We scoured the internet but just couldn’t really find anything of substance about the company. It seems like they probably want this to be the case, and specialize in lack of information.

The company behind the product, Nspire Network, seems more like a pyramid scheme (or multi-level marketing scheme) than anything else. We’d love more information, so if you’re from the company please let us know what the real deal is. Also, we’d love to know the science that backs up your outrageous claims about Cherish.

What other Products does Nspire Sell?

If we’re not really sure if a feminine hygiene products is legit, or not, we’ll often take a look at what else the company sells to give us some clues.

For example, some cheap menstrual cups are made by companies who also sell things like baby bottles, jewellery, or consumer electronics. Not exactly confidence-inspiring, because these companies are not multi-national conglomerates like Johnson + Johnson or 3M who have mastered multiple markets and product lines.

Nspire also sells what appears to be vitamins to boost Testosterone and the prostate. They also sell a memory booster, and sexual performance enhancements for both men and women.

Seems a bit sketchy to you? It might be.

We generally try to recommend products made by companies who make only products that are proven to help people. For example, a company that makes organic tampons, pads, and period panties. Or, a menstrual cup company that also makes reusable cloth napkins.

Is Cherish pad legit? They probably work just as well as a normal pad would, but as far as the outrageous claims go? Probably not so legit at all.

Who Runs the Company Behind Cherish Feminine Pads?

As of 2017, the company is run by six male executives. Now we certainly don’t think men aren’t capable of making great products for women.

However, there are just so many better products out there in the world of feminine hygiene products, made by women-led companies.

Any Positive to Nspire Pads?

On the upside, Cherish napkins contain no toxic chemicals (apart from possible radioactive material in the negative ion strip!), plastics, perfumes or dyes. That’s about all the positive we could conjure up. However, their outrageous claims about what their sanitary pads can do even call this into question.

It can be difficult to find them in stores, which is why we recommend shopping online. You can find them easily on Amazon:

Negative Ion Strips in Cherish Feminine Products: What’s the Deal?

Okay, so Cherish is all about the negative ion strip. But, what’s the deal with it and is it safe for women? What is it, and does it actually do anything? Let’s find out!

Basically, negative ions are Oxygen atoms that have an extra electron. They’re created in nature by water, air, sunlight and the Sun’s radiation. You may have noticed the relaxing effect of them when you’re at the beach or near a waterfall.

They’re said to do things like reduce stress levels, boost energy levels, and improve blood circulation.

As far as the science goes, there’s almost no information out there about negative ion strips, including anywhere online.

And, how exactly does the company get Oxygen with extra electrons into a sanitary pad. It’s curious, and we’d love to know more about this process. Please get in touch, and we’d love to have a chat about the science if you have the time.

What People are Saying about Cherish All Natural Pads

—>See More Customer Reviews and Ratings Here<—

“The main thing I had trouble with was leaking. I was looking forward to these all-natural pads, but they just didn’t hold that well. I’ll be switching back to Rael. The company claims that they’re super absorbent, but they’re pretty average as far as I could tell.”

“So far I’m impressed with Cherish Overnight Pads. There was no odour at all and I found that they absorbed well. I also like the fact that they’re natural and don’t contain a bunch of chemicals. In particular, I like the panty liners and night pads.”

“Impressive packaging for these Nspire things, and a nice sales pitch but they just didn’t live up to the hype. They were way too short, and just didn’t stick that well. I have quite a heavy period as well, but not surprisingly, Cherish Napkins did nothing to reduce my flow. Will they improve your life as the company claims? Probably not.”

“Way too expensive for what they are: An average disposable pad. You might think the price is pretty reasonable for an all-natural pad, but there’s only like 10 of them in the box! 8 layers of protection? Honestly, I don’t even know what that really means.”

nspire-cherish-sanitary-napkins

Nspire Cherish Pads

Cherish Sanitary Pad Pros:

  • 8 layers of protection
  • The heaviest ones can work well for overnight use

Cherish Sanitary Pad Cons:

  • Makes claims that can’t be true (reduce migraines, menstrual flow, that the negative ion strip may reduce cramps, etc.)
  • Claims that Cherish Feminine Products are 10x more absorbent than regular pads, but doesn’t seem to be the case.
  • Some reports that they don’t work well (leaking, don’t stick to the underwear well)
  • Quite expensive compared to similar products (small package).
  • Cherish napkins are all natural, but doesn’t seem to have an organic certification.
  • Negative ion strip and the possible radioactive material.

Compare Organic Pads

There are many better choices than Cherish Sanitary Pads out there, that it can be a little bit overwhelming to choose the right option. But, don’t worry, we’ve done the hard work for you and narrowed down the the choices. Check out a few of them here:

Cherish Pad Side Effects and Safety

As you can probably tell, we’re not big fans of Cherish Premium Sanitary Pads. We’re all about truth in advertising and companies not making outrageous claims about their products.

That said, if you have a box of Cherish Sanitary Napkins in your bathroom cupboard, are they safe to use? And will you have any side effects? What’s the deal with the negative ion strip in them?

Are they Radioactive?

It’s a bit uncertain, but there are some reports that they contain little bits of radioactive material in their negative ion strip. The amount is very small and probably not enough to cause any negative health effects. And, though the company claims that something like the negative ion strip may help reduce cramps, this isn’t really thought to be true.

In terms of whether or not they’re approved by the FDA, they’re not. That said, no sanitary pads are because these products are classified as medical device and don’t require this approval.

For our money, we’d probably just opt for a reputable brand of sanitary napkins, minus the radioactive material in them.

What’s up With Now We No?

When doing some research about Cherish Feminine Pads, we came across “Now We No,” a campaign that Npsire, the company behind these pads has started. You may also find that some people even call this product, “Now We No Pads.”

They call it their global mission to save lives. Nspire wants to inform men and women around the world about the harmful effects of toxins in sanitary napkins.

They also point out how many young girls and women lack access to adequate feminine hygiene products.

To that end, they hold walks, bike rides and basketball games to raise awareness about the issue.

What they actually do in terms of donating products to women without access to proper period care products, or lobbying the governmental organizations for changes is unclear.

As with many of the things from this company, it’s a lot of hype and promotion, but very meagre on the actual details and facts.

The Takeaway on Cherish Sanitary Pads

As far as all-natural pads go, these ones are probably one of our least favourite options. Here are a few of the reasons why we’d recommend so many other brands over Cherish:

  • All-natural, but don’t have an organic certification
  • Lack of truth in advertising (how can a sanitary pad reduce menstrual flow?)
  • Lack of information about the company and who is behind the product

That said, they probably will protect you from leaking during your period and they are reasonably comfortable to wear.

If you’re going to opt for sanitary napkins, why not buy them from a reputable company that specializes in this kind of thing? You’ll get a better product for a cheaper price (buyer beware: the packages contain a deceptively few pads in them).

It seems like a far better option than buying them from a multi-level marketing company run by men, who make a whole range of products on the edge of “sketchy.”

For some better choices, we recommend checking out:Organyc, Natratouch Organic, or our Top 5 Organic Pantyliners.

What you’ll be getting are products that you can trust. They’re certified organic, are made by companies who specialize in feminine hygiene products, and companies who don’t make outrageous claims.

We don’t recommend this brand. However, if you must, you can find them over on Amazon. Shop for them right here:

Which Sanitary Pads are Safe to Use?

It’s pretty clear that we don’t recommend using Cherish Pads. There are just too many outrageous claims from the company, along with some questionable things like the negative ion strip.

However, which ones are safe to use? Let’s find out!

In general, we don’t love any of the non-organic ones. Some (but not all!) contain toxic chemicals in them. Where do they come from? There is some residue on the cotton that these products are made from. There’s also a number of toxins from the manufacturing process, bleaching in particular.

How can companies get away with this? In the USA at least, it happens because the FDA classifies sanitary pads as medical devices. This means that companies don’t have to tell consumers what’s in their products. It’s certainly not ideal!

What’s the solution? We recommend sticking with organic, or reusable cloth ones (learn more about them below) if safety and toxic chemicals is a concern for you.

Here at Reusable Menstrual Cups, we’re ALL about eco-friendly reusable options. They’re great for the environment, are cheaper than disposables and are generally better for our bodies.

If you’re looking for an all-natural period solution, reusable menstrual pads can make a far better choice than these ones.

Are Cloth Pads a Hassle to Clean?

If you’re considering making the switch to cloth pads, you may wonder if it’s a hassle, or not. Of course, you have to clean them after use. This is the main reason that people don’t make the switch.

If you don’t care about staining, just throw them in with your normal load of laundry. It’s that easy.

However, if you do care about staining, it’s a bit more work. You’ll have to soak them in cold water first, or use a commercial stain remover product. Also not a big deal though. But, we’d be lying to you if we didn’t say that there were a pain at times to deal with.

Do they Shift Around?

The other things to consider is that reusable pads don’t have a sticky backing on them. Instead, they have snaps that keep them in place on your underwear.

If you engage in heavy exercise during your period, they may shift around a little bit and may not be that comfortable and also may not protect you that well. However, most people find that for everyday use, they’re fine and stay in place well enough.

The solution most people use is to keep a box of disposables for exercise, but use cloth pads for all other uses.

Which Ones to Consider?

There is a wide range of options for reusable menstrual pads. You can check out some of our favourites in this handy comparison chart below. Click below to pick some up for yourself to experience greater comfort during your period:
