The Diva Cup is the most popular menstrual cup in the world for good reason! It’s a top-quality menstrual cup that’s made in Canada from medical grade silicone.
The company has been around for years, and there thousands of positive reviews over on Amazon. The only real negative reviews are from people who don’t like menstrual cups in general, and not really about this specific product.
This is the sanitary cup to which all others are compared, and in terms of sizing and firmness, it’s considered to be the standard.
It’s often the first menstrual cup that people start with. It’s so good that people often end up sticking with the Diva Cup for their entire lives.

Sizing
To compare the Super Jennie vs. the Diva Cup in terms or price and sizes, check out the chart below:
Both period cups comes in two sizes: Small and Large. In general, the smaller size is for someone who hasn’t given birth vaginally, or is under the age of 30.
The larger cups are for people who’ve given birth vaginally, or who are older.
Diameter
In terms of diameter, the small Diva Cup is a little bit smaller than the Super Jennie (41 vs 43 mm). The large is similar, with the Super Jennie coming in a little bit bigger (45 vs 47 mm).
2 mm difference between each of these really isn’t so big, so it shouldn’t be a deciding factor between the two.
Length
In terms of length, both the small and large Diva Cups come in at 70 mm. The small Super Jennie is 63 mm, while the large is 67 mm.
If you have a medium to high cervix, either of these cups will work well for you.
However, if you have a low cervix/short vaginal canal (you can touch your cervix easily with the tip of your finger), then neither the Super Jennie nor the Diva Cup will work that well.
You’ll probably want to consider a low-cervix menstrual cup instead that comes in around 50 mm.
Capacity
In terms of capacity, both the small and large Diva Cups are 30 ml. The small Super Jennie holds 32 ml, while the large has room for 42 ml.
If you have a heavy period, then you’ll want to strongly consider going with the large Super Jennie. At 42 ml, it’s one of the highest-capacity period cups you can buy.
Think about it this way. A jumbo tampon holds around 10 ml. At over 40 ml, that’s 4x the capacity, which equals 4x less period hassle! Instead of changing your tampon every 2-3 hours, you might be able to make it 8 with this high-capacity period cup.
If you have to get up a couple times during the night of your heaviest flow, pair a large Super Jennie with an overnight pad. You might actually be able to sleep through the night! I know, crazy right?
Firmness
Let’s talk about firmness. The Diva Cup is considered to be average, while the Super Jennie is very soft. There are some advantages and disadvantages to this.
All about Soft Period Cups
The major advantage of a soft menstrual cup is that it can feel very comfortable inside of you. If you’ve experienced cramps with some of the firmer cups, you may want to give a softer cup like the Super Jennie a try.
However, they can be a bit difficult to insert because they don’t just pop open easily. You may have to twist and turn the cup to get it to fully open.
All about Firm Period Cups
If you get a firmer cup like the Diva Cup, you’ll probably find it quite easy to insert. Once you put it into your vaginal canal, it should just pop open. That’s why we often recommend beginners start with an average-firm cup.
The disadvantage to firmer ones is that they can push very strongly against the vaginal canal walls. This can cause some discomfort, and sometimes even cramps.

Buy the Diva Cup
If there is only one cup that you’ll find in stores, it’s this one. It’s because it’s the most popular menstrual cup in the world, and the name is almost synonymous with “menstrual cup.” It’s the same as how we call all tissue, “Kleenex.”
You can also get it online through Amazon. Prices are often cheaper than in stores, so be sure to do some comparison shopping:
Are they Comfortable?
A common question among people who are new to sanitary cups is, “Are they comfortable?” And for our comparison, is the Diva Cup, or the Super Jennie more comfortable?
In general, softer menstrual cups are more comfortable than firmer ones. However, most people find that they can’t even feel a menstrual cup when it’s inside them, so it doesn’t really matter. Menstrual cups are similar to tampons in that the vast majority of people have no problems wearing them.
The Super Jennie is one of the softest menstrual cups, so some people find it more comfortable than the Diva Cup. But in reality, both cups should work for you!

Can I use an IUD with the Diva Cup or Super Jennie?
A common question that people have is whether or not you can use an IUD with the Diva Cup or the Super Jennie. In general, is it possible to use a menstrual cup with an IUD, but you really should consult a medical professional about your specific situation.
Here are a few general tips about using the Diva Cup and Super Jennie along with an IUD:
- If you have a low cervix, it may not work for you to use both these products. There should be space between your cervix and the IUD.
- Get your doctor to trim the stems on your IUD as short as possible.
- Check the location of the strings periodically to ensure that they haven’t moved.
- When you remove them, be gentle! Be sure to break the suction seal first by pinching in the sides with two fingers. Then pull out the cup.
- Do NOT pull them out completely by the stem. This is the fastest way to dislodge an IUD because it creates a suction vacuum.
Sex with the Super Jennie or Diva Cup
If you’re new to the world of menstrual cups, you may want to know whether or not you can have penetrative sex while using the Diva Cup or the Super Jennie. The easy answer is no!
There just isn’t room for everything “up there.” They are both quite stiff, so it wouldn’t be comfortable for either party. Trust on on that one!
Ziggy Cup for Period Sex
A much better option for sex during your period is the Ziggy Menstrual Cup. It’s a flat, flexible disc that fits right below your cervix.
Previously, your best option for period sex were Instead Soft Cups (or the similar Flex Menstrual Disc). These work well for penetrative sex during your period, but the big negative is that they’re a disposable product.
The Intimina Ziggy Cup is very similar in design, but it’s made from the same material as the Super Jennie and the Diva Cup (medical grade silicone). This makes it reusable.
If you’re looking for a cheaper, more eco-friendly option for sex during your period, be sure to check out the Ziggy Cup over on Amazon:
