If you’re looking to find the softest menstrual cup, the firmest menstrual cup, or anything in between, you’ve come to the right place. Check out our menstrual cup firmness chart for help in choosing the best menstrual cup for you.

Of course, please note that measuring menstrual cup firmness is not an exact science. We could, I guess, send all these menstrual cups to a lab to be independently tested. We, however, did not do that!

Instead, we did our own “squish” tests, compiled all the best information from around the web, and then put it all down into this handy menstrual cup firmness chart. Check it out for help in choosing the softest, or the firmest menstrual cup.

Menstrual Cup Reviews

Check out all the details about the cups mentioned in the menstrual cup firmness chart above.

Very Soft Menstrual Cups

Lily Cup Compact

Unique in that it’s the only collapsible menstrual cup on the market today. It’s an interesting choice if you’re a backpacker or world traveler.

Meluna Soft

The Meluna is unusual in that it’s made from Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), unlike most other menstrual cups which are made from silicone. This means that it will mold to your body after it heats up better than the silicone ones.

The Meluna comes in a huge variety of sizes, lengths, models and colours.

Sckoon Cup

The Sckoon Cup is a bit of a newcomer to the menstrual cup world. It’s made in the USA and has some great reviews on Amazon, so it may be worth checking out.

Super Jennie

If you’re looking for one of the softest menstrual cups, but have a very heavy flow, then you’ll want to consider the Super Jennie. Their large version is the highest-capacity menstrual cup you can buy.

Menstrual Cup Firmness: Soft Menstrual Cups

Iris Cup

Made in Spain, the Iris Cup is one of the cheapest menstrual cups manufactured in Europe. It may be worth a try if you’re looking for a soft cup at an affordable price.

FemmyCycle

The FemmyCycle is one of our most recommend menstrual cup brands here at Reusable Menstrual Cups. This is because it has a teen version, as well as a low-cervix one. This is ideal for smaller people, or those with very short vaginal canals. Unlike some of the competitors, the capacity of these smaller cups is still quite reasonable.

Fleur Cup

This is a reasonably priced option that is made in France. The major downside is that it can be very difficult to find, even on Amazon outside of Europe.

Lena Sensitive

The Lena Cup is our top-rated menstrual cup. We LOVE it because it’s a top-quality cup, made in the USA and sold for a very reasonable price.

However, the original Lena is quite stiff. Thankfully, they’ve come out with a softer version that works well for people with sensitive bladders, or those who’ve found the harder cups caused cramping.

You can check out the Lena sensitive menstrual cup for yourself on Amazon:

Lily Cup

The Lily Cup is not one of our favourite cups! Although it’s not bad, in terms of quality and functionality, it’s extremely expensive, and there are plenty of cheaper, better cups out there.

Ruby Cup

The Ruby Cup is one of our new, favourite cups. This is because they have a buy one, donate one program where for every cup they sell, they donate one to a person in need.

Anigan EvaCup

The EvaCup has quickly become one of the most popular menstrual cups in the world. This is because it’s a made in the USA, top-quality cup at a very reasonable price. There is also a huge range of sizes, and colours.

If you have a heavy period, you may want to consider this one—it has one of the highest capacities of cups being sold.

Diva Cup

The Diva Cup is the most popular menstrual cup in the world for good reason. It’s been around for years, and has a reputation for being a top-quality product. It’s made in Canada from medical grade silicone.

You can buy the Diva Cup on Amazon:

Juju Cup

The Juju Cup is out of Australia, and although it’s an excellent menstrual cup, it can be quite difficult to find outside of that country.

Lunette Cup

Lunette is one of the oldest, most-established menstrual cup companies in the world. Their cup is more expensive than some of the other ones, but you get what you pay for.

In this case, you get a top-quality cup that may be the first and last cup you ever try. It really is that good that many people end up sticking with it for their entire lives.

Meluna Classic

The Meluna Cup is a bit unusual in that it’s made from Thermoplastic Elastomer, instead of medical-grade silicone. It comes in a huge range of sizes, colours and styles.

You can find the Meluna Menstrual Cup on Amazon:

MoonCup (UK)

Along with the Diva Cup, the MoonCup is probably the most popular menstrual cup in the world. It’s manufactured in the UK, and has been around for years. If’s often the first menstrual cup that people try, and it’s one that many people stick with their entire lives.

Yuuki Cup

Manufactured in the Czech Republic, the Yuuki is another top-quality cup out of Europe. The thing we love about this one is that it comes with an “infuser,” which allows you to deep-clean your cup in the microwave.

Extra-Firm Menstrual Cups

Lady Cup

Currently, there are 17 colours of Lady Cup available! It’s certainly impressive!

Meluna Sport

This is a firmer version of the regular and soft Meluna, already mentioned above.

Yuuki Cup

This is a firmer version of the Yuuki Soft, already mentioned above.

You can find the Yuuki Cup, along with the infuser on Amazon:

The Firmest Menstrual Cup

Are you looking for the firmest menstrual cup? You’ve come to the right place! Check out the Keeper Menstrual cup.

Check out our full review of one of the firmest menstrual cups on the market today:

The Keeper Cup

Our firmest cup on the chart, the Keeper is so stiff because it’s made of Latex, instead of silicone. If you find some of the softer menstrual cups difficult to insert, this could be the one for you. It’s almost impossible to get it to NOT open correctly inside of you.

There’s more good news. The Keeper can last for 10+ years because latex is extremely durable and doesn’t degrade easily.

The bad news is that some people start to develop allergies to latex after repeated exposure, or are already allergic. It’s also very stiff and not everyone may find it comfortable.

Get the Keeper Cup, made from latex on Amazon:

Here’s Why Menstrual Cup Firmness Matters

It really does make a difference whether or not you get a soft, or firm menstrual cup.

The Best Firmness for Beginners

In general, we recommend that beginners stick with average to firm menstrual cups because they are much easier to getinserted correctly. They will usually just “pop” open once inside you with little maneuvering on your part.

However, these firmer menstrual cups can sometimes cause some discomfort once inside of you because they can press quite strongly against your vaginal canal walls. They may even cause cramping particularly if you have a menstrual cup that is too big for you.

The Diva Cup is one of the top-rated menstrual cups with thousands of 4-5 star reviews over on Amazon.

Beginners often start with the Diva Cup. It’s the most popular menstrual cup in the world, and is the one to which all others are compared. It’s a pretty average cup in terms of length, diameter and capacity.

There’s a small size, for people under 30, or those who haven’t given birth vaginally. The larger one is for people over 30, or those who’ve given birth vaginally.

The best place to get the Diva Cup is on Amazon:

Menstrual Cup Firmness: Most Comfortable Menstrual Cups

People often find that the most comfortable menstrual cups are the softer ones. This is because they don’t press so strongly against your vaginal canal walls.

However, the soft cups can sometimes be quite difficult to get inserted correctly because they don’t just “pop” open like the firmer cups do; they’ll often stay folded up until you move them around a bit.

It’s for this reason that we usually don’t recommend them as your first menstrual cup. They can cause some serious frustration if you’re not experienced with one of the cups that just pops open easily.

Most people find that turning the cup one clockwise rotation, and then one counter-clockwise rotation is enough for even the softest cup to open fully. Doing this will ensure that the cup is sealed to your vaginal canal wall, and it will prevent leaking.

If you’re looking for a softer cup, check out the Lena sensitive. It has some seriously high ratings on Amazon, and the price is right!

The company is committed to women’s health, and wants to provide a top-quality product at a reasonable price.

Menstrual Cup Firmness: The Best Cups for Active People who Play Sports

If you’re an extremely active person and play lots of sports, you may want to consider one of the firmer menstrual cups. This is because during serious physical exertion, your body may push out some of the softer cups. It’s very rare, but it does happen.

Your body can also compress these softer cups too easily, which may result in breaking the suction seal, and then the cup will leak.

What’s our top recommendation for the best menstrual cup for sports? We’d go with the Yuuki Cup, Regular. It’s a top-quality menstrual cup that’s specifically designed for your needs and situation. You can check it out for yourself over on Amazon:

The Best Menstrual Cup for People with Sensitive Bladders

If you find that you have a sensitive bladder, then you may want to consider one of the softer cups. You don’t necessarily have to get one from the softest category, but you certainly don’t want one of the very firm cups.

If you have a very firm menstrual cup, you may find that you have to pee more often than usual. Or, it may feel like your bladder didn’t completely empty when urinating.

What is the best menstrual cup for a sensitive bladder? We’d recommend the Lena Sensitive.

The Lena Cup is the best selling menstrual cup on our website, and it has some of the highest user ratings and reviews on Amazon. The Lena Sensitive is soft, comfortable and you won’t even be able to feel it inside of you.

Check it out for yourself here:

What about Menstrual Cup Length?

If you have a short vaginal canal, and are looking for a low-cervix menstrual cup, you’ve come to the right place. Maybe the regular length menstrual cups stick out of you and feel very uncomfortable.

Or, maybe you have a very long vaginal canal and find it quite difficult to remove some of the average length menstrual cups. You just can’t quite reach that elusive stem! You’ve also come to the right place.

Check out our handy menstrual cup length chart. It’s easy to read, and you’ll be able to tell the shortest, the longest, and the average length menstrual cups at a quick glance:

What about Menstrual Cup Capacity?

If you have a very heavy period, then you’ll probably want a high capacity menstrual cup. Some cups hold as little as 15 ml (barely more than a jumbo tampon) while others hold up to 42 ml. There clearly is a big difference and choosing the wrong cup can prove to be kind of disastrous.

Or, maybe you’re a very small person and want the smallest menstrual cup possible? Perhaps the average/large menstrual cups have felt very uncomfortable and even caused cramping?
